On 15th of Nov, the Kabatas Metro Construction Job Site was visited by Sales Support Media Department, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.( Hitachi Construction Machinery) together with staffs of Istanbul Branch, Hitachi Construction Middle East Corp. FZE.
The project is carried out by Alarko Holding. Alarko Holding has an experience in various fields, high technology driven R&D investments, national sales network and international projects. Canakkale-Karabiga import Coal-Based Power Plant, Istanbul Metro Levent-Hisarustu Rail System Line, Bozshakol Copper Plant, Taldykol Sewer Pond Liquidation Project Construction of New Facilities, Istanbul Metro Yenikapı-Sishane Section, Karakuz Hydroelectric Power Plant/DAMM/HEPP are some of the ongoing projects.
The turn-key project consists of the engineering, procurement, construction, assembly and system integration, testing & commissioning works of 22.5 km long mass transit rail system between Kabatas – Mecidiyekoy – Mahmutbey with 5.5 km TBM/NATM tunnel construction work and viaducts, whole construction works of 3 stations, finishing and electromechanical works of 15 stations, 1.5 km depot yard connection line and superstructure of the depot area and maintenance buildings. When the project is finished, capacity will be 70,000 passengers per hour per direction.
Payas Insaat is sub-contractor of the project. The owner of the company has extended experience for a long years and the firm was established in 2015 and started to business as a concrete sub-contractor company. Supporting of his experiences the company expanded its business tunneling, excavation works as well. Now, the company carries on Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli Metro Line’s Sarıgazi Station’s 1700 meters tunnel excavation works and 2 shafts works.
Also, Kabatas – Mecidiyekoy – Mahmutbey Metro Line’s Kabatas Metro Station switchyard tunneling and concreting operations has been carried out by Payas Insaat. The total project area for this company 150 meters. Due to tunnel is two-stage, total excavating length will be 450 metres.
Company has 1 unit Hitachi Hydraulic Excavator ZX160LC-5A, 4 units Hitachi Hydraulic Excavator ZX210H-5A and 2 units Kawasaki Wheel Loader 80Z6 in their machinery fleet.
1unit ZX210H-5A works for upper-structure works and other 1 unit works with the breaker under-structure (for rock deformation) works. Additionally 2 units 80Z6 works at visited job site.
The tunnel is located in 45 meters depth from the ground. The constructor company carries out NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method) tunnel technology due to soft-ground. The fundamental difference between this new method of tunneling, as opposed to earlier methods, comes from the economic advantages made available by taking advantage of the inherent geological strength available in the surrounding rock mass to stabilize the tunnel. Use rock mass as far as possible to take additional stresses resulting from excavation.
The company owner indicated that Hitachi’s machinery could resist against; hard tunneling and excavating works. The operators satisfy with durability and performance of machinery.
